Welcome To A Fabulous New Academic Year!
I look forward to an exciting year at CHS. I extend a warm welcome to all of my students and parents. My ultimate goal is to empower students to be contributing members of society and the workplace by producing critical thinkers who apply reading, writing, speaking, listening and viewing skills in order to communicate effectively. I will also help each of you with your journey toward academic success as we master comprehension, grammar, vocabulary, and writing essentials needed to be successful on the End- of- Course Examination Program (EOCEP) and the High School Assessment Program (HSAP) examinations. Please feel free to contact me via e-mail with questions and/or concerns.

Teacher Professional Biography: I teach 9th grade Critical Reading classes. Prior to joining the faculty here at Columbia High and becoming a PROUD CAPITAL, I served as an ELA teacher specialist at various SC schools with the South Carolina Department of Education coaching/mentoring teachers in the areas of classroom management, leadership, professional learning, curriculum and data/assessment in order to improve instruction and student performance. I am an alumnus of South Carolina State College, where I received both a Bachelor’s of Arts in Professional English and a Master’s in Counseling. In addition, I am also a 2002 National Board Certified Teacher and have served as a National Board Assessor. I plan to continue my post-graduate work for a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. In my leisure time, I enjoy reading, writing, learning, tutoring, gardening, biking, and spending time with my family. My motto is simply this:”Be The BEST You Can Be."
